Death due to domestic violence rose from 2022 to  2023 from 7 to 25. Those are 25 families that had to grieve the loss of their loved one. This is not even counting what the statistics will be in 2024. I know for sure, in September 2024 a woman and her baby were killed in a murder suicided by her partner.  If I can prevent just one of those deaths, that is one less family that will be affected.

I am just one person and I can't change everything, but I can change what is in front of me to the best of my ability.

Before these deaths, I am sure there were signs there were signs of abuse that were ignored. You may ask yourself why don't they just leave? The answer to that is because they cannot find the help they need. Columbus residents are experiencing economic stress, housing crisis and higher rate of substance abuse. There is a lack of resources and funding for victims. Federal funding has decreased for this particular situation. But we know that domestic violence has not decreased. It needs more attention.

I know I can't provide a huge 100 room facility right now. But I can do my part by starting with giving 5 or 6 families with somewhere safe to go and help them get on their feet, whether that be with counseling or resources. Yes, there are many resources out there, but not many women have to time or the awareness to know what is available. Facilities in the city are packed to capacity and have people on waiting lists. I  don't want to create a facility. I want to create a home-like environment to help one family at time.

Children that grow up witnessing domestic violence face challenges that they cannot process at a young age. I want to provide a space that looks like home for them.  They are already dealing with too much.

Also, we want to provided a counseling space for women in need. Our counseling services will offer a safe space for women to express themselves, heal from trauma, and develop coping strategies. Our trained professionals provide personalized support and guidance to help these women navigate their difficult situations and move towards a brighter future.

We hope to offer a variety of shelter options to ensure the safety and well-being of women and their children. Our shelters provide a secure environment, basic necessities, and emotional support to help these families rebuild their lives and regain their independence.

Empowerment Programs

Empowerment programs are designed to equip women with the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to regain control of their lives. These programs focus on building self-esteem, developing life skills, and fostering independence to empower women to break free from cycles of violence and abuse.

Our community outreach initiatives aim to raise awareness about domestic violence, sexual assault, abuse, and homelessness. By engaging with the community, we strive to educate, advocate, and create a network of support for women in need.
